Dr. Stephanie Purvis is a UC Davis graduate and was in the same class as Dr. Ichord and Dr. Campbell! She started practice in equine medicine, and is still an avid horse lover, but moved to the fulfilling and challenging world of small animal medicine a couple of years ago.
Anne is originally a “local girl”, raised in Escondido, CA and graduated from Orange Glen High School. She moved north to go to college and graduated with a degree in History, Political Science and Economics from CSU Stanislaus in the northern California town of Turlock. She is very immersed in the veterinary medical world as she is married to Dr. Ichord! She’s managed a very busy practice in Turlock, CA before returning home to San Diego County with Dr. Ichord to purchase and manage San Marcos Veterinary Clinic. Anne also has extensive experience in customer service and offers nothing less than the best service and kindness to all clientele. Most of all, Anne never met a pet she didn’t like – or love!

Paul is a new arrival to San Diego County and also comes from the northern California city of Turlock. He has always had a love of animals and knew he wanted to work in the field of veterinary medicine. Paul began to work for a veterinary hospital in 2009, starting as a kennel attendant and working his way up as a technician’s assistant while attending school to become a registered veterinary technician. Paul received his RVT education from Modesto Junior College in Modesto, CA and is licensed through the State of California. He has extensive experience in all aspects of veterinary medicine and is also a Purina Certified Weight-Loss Coach. Paul is excited to help the chubbier patients of San Marcos Veterinary Clinic achieve their weight loss goals and improve the quality and length of their lives.
Paul is 6’4″ and doesn’t really like to play basketball.
We refer to Paul as “the Cat Whisperer”.
Paul eats green beans but not lettuce, go figure!
Maycie lives here in San Marcos and is a recent graduate of Mission Hills High School. Maycie started as a volunteer but was such a great help we hired her! She loves working with animals and enjoys the complexity of medicine too. Maycie plans to pursue an education to become a registered veterinary technician (RVT). She lives with her family, including her two dogs Tawny, a Belgian Malinois and Spark, a Chihuahua. Maycie loves the outdoors and during her down time loves photography and art.
Maycie may be our youngest employee, but you’d never guess it. Her mature demeanor has us calling her “an old soul”.
Maycie fits in so well because she too has a sassy sense of humor.
Irene came to us through the training program at Mission Hills High School from where she recently graduated. Irene is an excellent asset to us as she is San Salvadorean and speaks Spanish. She also is a major pet lover and has 2 dogs, Lucky and Yoshi, 2 cats, Littens and Ghost and 2 turtles, a water turtle named Tank and a land turtle named Tiny Tim. Irene is also one of our RVT’s in training and is proving herself to be a very quick learner and loves being a part of the SMVC team.
Irene is a quiet young lady but loves to have bright, loud hair! (We love it too!) She also enjoys doing her nails and spending time with her friends and family.
Maria hails from San Jose, CA but worked with Dr. Ichord, Anne, Paul and Jessica in Turlock too! She joined the veterinary field in 2006 and has developed into a professional veterinary receptionist. Maria was not allowed to have pets as a child and this drove her to the industry. Maria is bilingual, a huge help to San Marcos Veterinary Clinic and truly loves providing our clients with excellent customer service. She is the mother of two young men, ages 19 and 21, and is mom to 4 dogs, Sassy, Victoria, Myles and Old Man Sai. We are so grateful Maria was willing to relocate to SoCal to join our team!
Maria has 4 dogs but someday would like to get a cat. Maria doesn’t want just any cat, she wants a Maine Coon cat because they look like miniature lions and are big with furry feet!
Megan started out with us as a volunteer intern; we realized what a great asset she’d be and hired her when a position became open. She was raised primarily in Utah but has also lived in Arizona, Montana, the Philippines and China and is one of 15 children! Megan is happily married and is the proud momma of a 6 year old boxer, Brindi and an adorable kitten, Ollie. Megan is a true ‘mountain girl’ and loves to go camping.
Megan used to rescue and rehabilitate raccoons!

She has two dogs of her own and is a mother to a 3 year old little boy. She loves working at the practice to provide the clients the same care and compassion she gives her own animals, along with working with an amazing group of people who are here to do the same.
Her family, her animals, the beach and being the best mom to her son.
Brigitte is also a California native and a graduate of Mission Hills High School. She is a very hard worker and is quick to learn and pays attention to detail. She’d love to study to become an RVT someday as she’s grown up around animals her entire life. Brigitte has 1 dog (Manny) and 2 cats (Leoki and Oliver) that she loves to snuggle and play with. She especially enjoys traveling and her favorite travel is road trips!
We met Brigitte through our Room Tech, Irene – they are best friends!
